36 programmable internal LEDs fade and transition, pushing & pulling shadows to create a sense of movement. Future versions could incorporate movement and automation. The central axis was designed for rotation in addition to lateral movement. One interpretation is a machine in the process of building itself. Imagine the radial arms sweeping the face of the piece in shifting orbital paths, collecting and placing an array of building blocks that wait at the edge of the surrounding ring. This process is repeating and can be seen at an earlier stage in the lower right corner of the piece, suggesting this is just a first glimpse of a larger system.
